Numerics test applied to
Mark 16 v 9-20

9 Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils. 10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. 11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not. 12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country. 13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them. 14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen. 15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned. 17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with tongues; 18 They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover. 19 So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God. 20 And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following. Amen.

The authenticity of the last twelve verses of the 16th chapter of Mark has long been in doubt. They are omitted by some translators of the New Testament, marked as an interpolation by others, and included as part of the Scripture by yet a third group without any comment. Other Bible commentators have written complete books in an endeavour to contend, with great learning, ability and zeal, for the genuineness of these verses. Bible numerics indicates that the last word, "Amen", as appearing in most modern translations is erroneous and therefore has not been included.

Why all this division of opinion about this particular portion of Scripture? It seems apparent that an endeavour has been made to exclude these verses as not being inspired and remove them from God's Word.

Summarises New Testament commandments:

This passage of Scripture is important to Bible believers because it summarises in a few verses the New Testament commandments which the Lord gave. It was His commandment that we take hold of the promises in Mark 16, and because He realised the importance of this passage of Scripture and the blessing that it can bring into the lives of believers, He wove a wonderful numerical pattern through it, to set His seal upon it, that no-one might doubt that this is His inspired Word to all.

Pattern of sevens:

  • Feature 1 - The number of words in this passage of Scripture is 175, or 25 sevens

  • Feature 2 - Its vocabulary has 98 words, or 14 sevens

  • Feature 3 - The number of its grammatical forms is 133, or 19, sevens

  • Feature 4 - The total numeric value of the letters of all the words in the passage is 103,663, or 14,809 sevens

  • Feature 5 - The numeric value of its 133 grammatical forms is 89,663, or 12,809 sevens

  • Feature 6 - Of these 133 forms 112, or 16 sevens, occur only once; and 21, or 3 sevens, occur more than once

  • Feature 7 - The 98 words of the vocabulary have 553 letters, or 79 sevens

  • Feature 8 - Of which 294, or 42 sevens, are vowels; and 259, or 37 sevens, are consonants

  • Feature 9 - Of these 98 words of the vocabulary 84, or 12 sevens, are found before in the Gospel of Mark; and 14, or 2 sevens, are found only here

  • Feature 10 - And again, of these 98 words of the vocabulary 42, or 6 sevens, are used by the Lord in his address to the disciples; and 56, or 8 sevens, form no part of His vocabulary

  • Feature 11 - The passage's 175 words are thus divided between the speech of the Lord and the rest of the passage; the speech has 56 words, or 8 sevens; the rest of the passage has 119 words, or 17 sevens

The probability of these features of seven being in this passage by chance is 1 in 1,977,326,743.

Commandments are clear:

Dare we neglect the Lord's instruction to believe and be baptised for our salvation? Can we afford to go along with those who would like to persuade us that receiving of the Holy Spirit with the evidence of speaking in other tongues is not for today? Must we reject the testimony of those who are able to tell that the Lord has answered the prayer of faith with the laying on of hands for the healing of their sicknesses? Do we still feel that God is no longer able to give us His divine protection?

If you have had any doubts, you need have them no longer. God has set His seal upon His Word, and is therefore bound to confirm His Word with signs following.
